❀ Frédérique's ❀ Handkerchiefdress...

A tribute to Kikihalb ♧ Forest~Tales ♧...

When i started looking for Inspiration on Flickr! i quickly found this artist who works with Blythe! She sew's really elaborate dresses and gowns, everything by hand and everything very detailed. It's a joy to go on her Flickr!-account and i found a Tutorial, which she shared! So i sat down and made a little dress out of a Floral printed cotton handkerchief, which is the trademark of Frèdèique, for Barbie.

I hope she smiles if she might by any chance ever see this ;)

I used Renaissance fair Barbie again for this Shooting! She's the one I started with. I finally gave her a Re-root in tickled pink and snow-white, saran hair from mylittlecustoms.
I made the Roombox, the screen/paravent and the flowers after the book 'The-Big-Book-Miniature-House', by Lea Frisoni (I highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested in making miniature's and Roomboxes). The sidetables are orders from Ebay

Thank's for visiting!

Out in the Woods

A little bit 50ies....

So summer is almost over and I was out to take pics on, what seems to be, one of the last sunshine-days.

I made this Re-roots and dresses already in May and I'm happy to finally show them.

The dresses are 50ies inspired and have little petticoats underneath. I used thin cotton Moussline from Liberty and a simple cotton fabric for the contrast that I dyed myself.

Enjoy!

I used Barbie Basics nr.14 again. This time she got a Re-root in Hazelnut with Ash-blonde Summer-Streaks.

And I got Katniss with the new Facemold. I really love her and I wanted to bring out her green eyes. So she got a Re-root in Strawberryblonde with Golden-blond Streaks.

The both got hot-water-perms and i rolled them on big XL-Straws to give them a natural movement!

Little Summer-Boho Dress....

Since I am renovating my little country-apartment this summer I do not have so much time for Barbie, sadly. But I made this little Boho-summer dress a while ago and finally got the time to take pics.

I used Barbie Nr. 08 from the Basics Jeans-Line and rerooted her with a custom blend of Original Brunette and Hazelnut, both Saran Hair from www.mylittlecustoms.co.uk. I totally love her. I think she got the perfect lip colour...

The fabric I used for the dress is thin cotton mousseline from Liberty!...

Have a great summer,

Axel

Alice in Wonderland...

Making myself happy...

Since I can remember I always loved Alice in Wonderland.  I loved to read the book, I loved the Disney-movie from the 50ties and ther was also an animated series around in the 80ies that i loved to watch.
I think it's a perfect theme for Barbie because when Alice shrinks and talks to the flowers in the Disney version she might be at about Barbie's size. So I loved to playAlice with my Barbie.
What I dont undestand is that Mattel has not offered a satisfying version lately. Of course there are the 'Skipper as Alice' Dolls from the 90ties and there was this more artistic version a few years ago. But was there any original or Disney Inspired version yet? I mean really like 'Barbie as Alice..'?
No there was not. But of course we get another set of 'Gone with the wind'-Scarlets and 'Oz-Dohrothy's'.

So there's nothing else to do than making myself happy and create one by myself. This is what I came up with, this is what I would like to see from Mattel!

Enjoy!

I used 'Daria Celebutante'. She got a reroot in Blondicous and Dark-Maibu  (Saran hair fom MyLittleCustom)

Hope you love her as much as I do!

1745-75 Robe a la Francaise / Contouche

Madame de Pompadour vous embrasse!

So I finally had time to shoot the Robe a la francaise ! I made this gown already 6 months ago but just didn't have time to take pics. So here it is!

When I think of rococo i think of this shilouette! It might be the most iconic ones. The Contouche was in fashion almost the whole 18 century and was worn with paniers or a crinoline to give the skirt a oval shape. In the back, it is pleated and falls down lose like a cape.

I had a hard time to make the pattern but it worked out wonderful and i am very proud of it. There is a corset with boning worked into it. As you costume-lovers out there might have noticed, the hairstyle is not completely accurate for the time. It should be smaller since the big hair started later. But i thought why not combine the two the two most iconic rococo things and go big? Hope you like it.

I also made a little landscape-model and a new dollstand. I will post a making of of this work soon!

Listening to: Mozart - 'Piano Sonata No.11'

Enjoy!

I used 'Fab 40ties' -Barbie and gave her a Reroot with Saran hair in a custom blend with Azure-Blue and HiHo-Silver (both from www.mylittlecustoms.com). I also 'Powdered' her with Dry-Shampoo. Jewlery as well as the hairstyle is, of course, also made by me.

Be kind to one another,

Axel

Floating 70ies!

Hello Everyone!

I love doing underwater-editorials! It"s a lot of work but also fun at the same time! Since Barbie does not much but being beautiful, I have to do everything. You wont believe all the things you have to think of. First you need to find the right light. Then you need to place and pose Barbie, you need to watch out that you are not on the pic, you have to put weight on your shoulders or hips to stay underwater. And because i dont use a oxygen bottle, i have to do everything holding my breath, hoping that the diving goggles dont steam up.

I use my I-phone to take the pics. I bought a underwater-case for it which works very well. Its just a little hard to see what pic you acctually have taken because there is a lot of reflection when shooting in daylight/sun. So I never know what i got until i open the case.

But I think I got a few pretty good shoots here.

I decided to do some 70ies inspired summer-dresses. I got some nice fabric from liberty-art-fabrics ,they have great prints and very thin cotton-mousseline, ideal for miniatur-tailoring.

I was born in the 70ies, so maybe thas why i love this era so much. Flower-prints, romantic gowns, long hair and platforms may never go out of fashion. When i look at the dresses i feel like they would work today and i know a lot of girls who would wear them

Since i am a big Project Runway fan i also found a lot of inspiration in Uli Herzners flowy gowns...

Enjoy!

Listening to: Junip - "Walking Lightly"

I used my two OOAK-girls again (find out more here) Right now i am rerooting some more girls. I think i need to do a blonde for once. I am trying to get GreenLantern-Barbie for like months now. Totally love her in blonde. We will see, she plays hard-to-get with me.

Earrings are from Topmodel-Teresa and On Location - Barcelona. Silver bracelet is from Tim Gunn, the golden ones are custom.

Hope you enjoy your summer! Have you been on Holiday yet?

Be nice to one another,

Axel
